19 January 20:10

A cold afternoon but the pitch was in good order. Tom was in goal as usual with Sam and Tom E in defence.  Ben playing a sweeper role with Kyle in front and Jono and Will on the wings. Archie, Danny and Ben R made up the subs. Cockerham won the toss and decided to kick off playing the first half up the hill. Kyle and Will took the kick off playing the ball back to Ben. Ben played the ball back forward to Kyle who played it onto Jono. Will in the meantime had moved forward to the edge of the box. Jono took on a player showing some good skill and found Kyle who played it into the box and found Will who tucked it neatly away into the goal! First minute 1-0 to Cockerham.  Superb start. Warton restart and Cockerham maintained their cool, Kyle winning the ball and again looking for Jono. Ben was doing a good job in the middle sweeping everything up and pushing the ball forward. All Warton's play was going through their number 6 who was showing good speed and skill on the ball but Sam and Tom E were having non of it pressuring him and covering. Ben was doing a good job linking with Kyle who in turn was giving good supply to Jono and Will up front , Jono was using his skill with the ball to turn the defence but not quite managing to make anything of it. Warton wouldn't lie down and Tom was finding himself with a bit of work to do although Sam and Tom E were working brilliantly together.  Ben dropped back and made a clearance which struck Tom E full in the face meaning he had to come off so Archie came on to replace him and was asked to carry on the excellent work Tom had been doing. Everything the lads had been asked to do seemed to be working well in the different formation and roles they were playing but we didn't seem to be able to unlock their defence and if we did the keeper was saving well as was happening at our end. Ben was taking all the throw ins and Kyle the corners and although the lads were trying different things we couldn't break them down and it was still 1-0 to Cockerham at half time.

After the break Jono was replaced by Danny and the lads werer asked to keep up the good play. Warton took the restart and tried the same as we did in the first half but Archie defended well to keep them out. Ben and Kyle were trying to play Dan in down the wing and he was doing a fantastic job crossing in or winning corners. Warton were pressing hard and made a substitution dropping the number 6 back into defence as Sam and Archie were doing a fantastic job of containing him and stopping him creating chances down the wings. Tom E returned back to the pitch as Archie made way for him and Ben R went up front while Kyle came off for a well earned rest. The match continued to ebb and flow and Dan was putting a good shift in on the wing being provided well by Ben in the middle. Danny kept winning the corners but we just couldn't seem to take advantage of the set pieces. Tom E picked up right where he'd left off before going off injured and was trying to run the ball forward as well as defending well. Will was tackling well in the middle now to keep the number 6 from creating anything and Tom was keeping his cool and saving anything that came at him with good safe hands. Things were getting a bit tense as the clock was counting down and Warton seemed to be getting the upper hand a little but the defence and Tom were doing sterling work as were Will and Ben in the centre. The final minute was approaching and the crowd were doing their best to keep the lads spirits high. Warton kept pressing and the number 6 found himself in a bit of space and managed to get a shot off that Tom quite simply had no chance of saving although he put his best effort in again. 1-1 with a minute to go. The lads got going again and took the restart quickly throwing everything forward to try and pinch back the advantage but the full time whistle went and the score remained 1-1.

A fantastically entertaining match in which each and every player played their hearts out and showed trmendous spirit. There was also a lot more team work and with Ben playing a sweeper role which worked well in controlling the midfield very well. All the defenders did a fantastic job and kept their number 6 subdued for the majority of the match and had they not done this the scoreline could have been a lot different. Man of the match went to Tom as he made some wonderful saves and maintained his cool when up against it and showed great courage. I'm sure a lot of top keepers would like to have his saves to goal ratio in their stats. Well done lads if we can keep playing like this we will start to score more goals and win more matches. Well Done!

A cold morning with a touch of frost but on inspecting the garden and speaking to the opposition manager it was decided to go ahead and play the fixture as the ground wasn't too hard. Ben had given way for Sam to play, George for Harvey, Thomas F and Thomas E were unavailable so in came James and Jonothan. City won the toss and elected to play into the sun for the first half. Cockerham started well with Will working well with Archie and tackling well. City win a throw in and Cockerham needed to defend with Sam blocking well. The advantage swung back in Cockerhams favour but City tackle well and press back Sam clearing well helped by Archie. Harvey loses possession but fights back to regain possesion clearing to give City a corner. Cockerham defend well and Singy gets on a run the ball just getting in front of him on the fast firm surface. City have a goal kick intercepted by Jono who passes to Singy who crosses to Archie for a shot that went wide of the mark. Will was commanding the midfield well and playing the ball forward well trying to create oppertunities. Danny  and Kyle came on to replace Archie and Singy. City got a corner which again was defended well Tom organising the defence well. Cockerham got a free kick and Kyle popped it into the box Jono showing good strength and stamina to round the defenders but his shot is saved. City break away quickly and Tom made a good choice to come out and clear. Cockerham  broke away but ther were no oppertunities to shoot. The first half  ended with Tom making a cracking save followed by Kyle having a long shot saved.

James came on for the second half in plaqce of Harvey who'd put a good shift in in defence. an City took the kick off Jono getting stuck right in winning the ball but getting tackled as he tried to run forwrd with the ball. Will was still dominating in midfield although the City players were paying him a little more attention. Tom again had to come out of his area to clear and sent the ball down the middle to allow Cockerham to push on again. James was doing a good job in defence sticking to his guns to disrupt the City attack. City got a corner and it looked like it was going in but was saved . The game was real end tyo end stuff now with both teams attacking and defending well but unable to break the deadlock. Will was still tackling well and providing the attack with the ball Jono, Kyle and Danny all having oppertunities denied. Archie came on for Jono and Singy for Kyle. Sam was still massive in defence holding the attack up to allow the midfield to get back and cover. Cockerham were really turning the screws down now and Will hadf another shot saved. City broke back and again Sam is sound in defence clearing the ball. Singy got a shot off just wide off the mark. End to end stuff now and Tom finds himself coming out again to clear the ball as City break forward. Both teams nwere now desperate for a goasl as were the crowd and in the last minute there was one unfortunately it went for City with not enough time for Cockerham to get one back. 1-0 City.

Again another strong positive performance from each and every player one or to standing out a little ( I think Tom H covered more area than he's had to in any match so far clearing the ball outside his area ) Man of the match was awarded to Sam who put in an outstanding performance in defence holding the play up and organising the players around him. Thanks to Emily and Ben for their usual contributions ie match notes and lining. Unfortunately with reffing the match I was unable to enjoy it but I'm sure it was entertaining from aq supporters point of view so thanks for turning out on a chilly Sunday morning.  Next up are Warton Warriors so COME ON LADS YOU CAN DO IT.

CARNFORTH RANGER 2 COCKERHAM JUNIORS 0
Lune and District Junior Football League B Division
Referee: Ian Lawrence

08th January

A short report today due to technical difficulties involving a felt tip pen, heavy drizzle and a sodden notepad !  (Thanks Emily, for persevering in horrible conditions).   It was good to get back on the pitch after a long Christmas break and play this rearranged fixture.  Carnforth are riding high in the division in 2nd place but level on points with the leaders, so we knew this would be a testing game.  Before the game we talked about being calm and playing our own game, never giving up and enjoying ourselves.  The boys started really well, covering their opposition, pressing the ball and winning the game in the middle of the pitch.  When they won the ball, Singy, Will & Archie weren't afraid to take on their defenders and we found ourselves bearing down on Carnforths goal quite frequently.  Kyle popped a free kick just wide and when Danny replaced Singy after 10 minutes, he took off on one of his runs and just failed to beat the Carnforth keeper.

At the back, Tom dealt well with what little he had to do, but I really noticed him organising those around him when needed, and I hope he will continue to be loud and proud as we enter the second half of the season.  Thomas Fearney and George were playing really well together in defense, one pressing the ball and the other covering the central defensive position.  Carnforth were limited to long range efforts and a few corners, which again Tom organised well and we handled ok.  Will played a sweeper role superbly, and was close again to man of the match, however, for his focus and excellent tackling, Thomas Fearnley thoroughly deserved the award.

At half time Ben Pye came on for Thomas Fearnley and Singy returned for Kyle.  A few minutes in and Thomas Ellison who had come on for Archie in the first half, let loose a cracking right foot shot which the Carnforth keeper saved with an excellent dive to his left.  It remained 0-0 and the boys were coping really well with a good Carnforth team.  Danny was always causing trouble on the left side, his ball control and speed being key.  We hit the half hour mark and Carnforth had a throw from their left, it was half cleared by our defense, but as it dropped just in front of our penalty area, the Carnforth no 11 volleyed it beautifully, dipping in to the top right corner, a super goal.

That strike affected the boys for a few minutes and unfortunately, we let a second scrappy goal in.  it was a wet & muddy ball that squirmed off Tom's gloves and was poked in by a Carnforth player.  There was an arguement that Tom had the ball in his hands, but it was unclear from the touchline.

Kyle and Archie returned to the pitch for Thomas Ellison and Will and I asked Kyle as captain to spur the team on again.  He enthusiastically took to the task and the boys found their composure again, Danny forcing another brilliant save from the Carnforth keeper, who just kept the ball out with his left big toe, I think !  Archie had a try and just hit the side netting in the dying moments.  It finished 2-0 to Carnforth, but I swear I saw their coach let out a big sigh at the end, he knew his table toppers had been in a real game.   Well done boys, I really enjoyed the game and can report back positively to Steve, who will be pleased to hear of your all round performance.  Keep this up and we will be climbing the league in 2012.

Lune and District Junior Football League B Division

Man of the Match: Will Proctor
29th November 20-20

A dry but windy and cold day for this match against our old rivals Heysham Blue Star. Cockerham started strongly with Will making his return from injury playing down the middle defending well and playing the ball forward well to Jono.  Heysham were taking no chances putting two defenders on him from the start. Tom was getting vocal at the back organising the defence of Harvey and Ben as Heysham pushed forward. Cockerham win the ball back and play it through to Jono who again attracts the attention of two defenders.  Heysham get the ball back and run the ball into our box needing a clearance from Ben. Cockerham are playing into the wind and Heysham manage to steal a shot at goal with Tom saving well. Singy is playing well on the wing getting the ball into Jono and defending well, as is Will. Danny is working the other wing well and spurring the team on . The whole team are showing great team effort and spirit, driving forwards up the pitch.  Heysham get a break and Tom comes out of his area to make a massive clearance. Tom sees a quick pass to Singy who feeds Jono who manages to turn the defenders and make a great run and shoots, with the goalie saving.  The game is really competitive now and Harvey is driving forward to link with Will and Danny as the flow of play ebbs in Cockerhams favour as the lads press forward. Singy is playing a blinder and gets into the box to link with Jono who plays it back for Singy to shoot......just wide. Harvey comes off to allow George a go and has to get stuck in right away as Heysham battle back, Tom tipping another shot clear. Will gathers the ball in midfield and makes a brilliant run playing Jono in, who manages to get in front of his two markers but his shot is saved yet again.  Goerge plays Danny in who makes good run passing to Singy before taking a knock.  Our run on goal os stopped by the referee Danny has gone down. Thomas E comes on for Danny. The game restarts but the half time whistle follows .

The half time talk urged the lads to keep up the good work communicating, covering and pressurising the ball as they had been doing in training and to keep their spirits up. The game restarted in the same vein as the first half with both teams looking determined. Heysham push forward and Ben makes a massive clearance the ball going back to them though and we are caught unawares and it's 1-0 to Heysham. The lads keep their heads and spirits up and attack straight back winning a free kick. Singy steps up to take it with a cracking effort on goal going just wide. Heysham push back and manage to find a hole in the defence and get another shot off 2-0.  Ben Roskell comes on for George. The lads are still battling hard and are pushing right back into their half with Will, Singy and Tom E playing some good football, supplying Jono up front, who still retained the attention of two defenders. Singy is starting to look a little tired now and is reolaced by Danny who's recovered from his earlier knock. The two Bens are working hard in defence and making some good solid tackles. Danny has slipped right in where Singy left off and is linking well with Jono. Heysham get a break and Cockerham are a bit slow to recover a long ball getting the striker in behind the defence 3-0. Will is replaced by Harvey as he's now looking a bit tired after putting a massive effort in on his return. Heysham get a run into the box but unfortunately Ben is a little late and strong with his challenge giving away a penalty 4-0. The lads are still not going to lie down and are pushing back to create more chances. Heysham still aren't taking any chances and are defending with two players on Jono. George comes on for Ben P. Heysham get anothe break and score again. A little of Cockerhams communication at the back has gone now but the lads are still going for a goal.  The Heysham defenders are now reverting to more aggressive tactics and Jono is brought down for a free kick. Cockerham are still throwing everything forward and Tom is caught out of his box and Heysham get another 6-0 just on the whistle.

Another entertaining match against Heysham and the score line makes it look like the game was one sided but i'm sure anyone who was watching would agree that this was not the case. It was encouraging to see a brilliant performance in the first half when possibly our strongest side was out and managed to contain what is probably the strongest team in the league as well as creating goal scoring oppertunities. It also showed they were aware of this in the fact that they had two defenders on or front man. The whole team performed well and there were some good personal performances all round.  Maybe we need some of our more experienced players to take it on board to help out the less experienced when they come on.  The whole team would probably have got man of the match again but for an outstanding performance by Will especially after being out for about six weeks. Thanks to Chris Little for giving up his family time to referee at short notice and to Emily for her match notes .

20th November 16:25

Another fine, dry day for a game of football and playing on a flat 3g astroturf surface so a new challenge for the lads. Harvey was back  playing in defence with Sam Eastwood and Thomas Fearnley starting as subs allowing George, James and Danny to have a day off. The pre match talk was much the same as usual trying to get the lads to remember to communicate, pass quickly and pressure and cover when required. Bare took the kick off and put the pressure on straight away Harvey and Ben defending well and Tom finding himself making an early save. Cockerham were looking a bit shy of the ball at this point but were covering well in the defence, remaining focused and concentrating on stopping Bare from passing the ball. Cockerham took a goal kick, Tom E collecting the ball and making a good run to play the ball through for Jono to apply some pressure back the Bare defence, who remained solid to close him down.  Kyle makes a great defensive header and Harvey clears well. Cockerham are still loking a little bit shy of the ball and captain Kyle is asked to organise the team as a few gaps are beginning to appear as Bare pressure well again. Bare are starting to make good use of their possesion and get a couple of shots in with Tom saving well to deny them. Harvey is having a solid game in defence working hard and using his body to keep Bare off the ball. Kyle plays a beautiful ball through for Jono who chases well, the ball just beating him and the keeper collecting it just in time. Archie comes off for Sam as he looks to be struggling with the no. 6 and Sam is asked to keep a track of him. Cockerham are beginning to look more settled now and are beginniong to win the ball more and press into the Bare half. Kyle is starting to command the midfield and plays Tom E in who has a shot saved. Bare press back and win a free kick on the wing but miss the target and the first half comes to an end at 0-0.

The lads are encouraged to keep playing as they are but try to attack a little more. Kyle offers to make way for Singy as he's a bit out of breath having ran well and worked hard in the first half putting in a good display. Cockerham start brightly and get an early chance, Sam passing to Jono who's shot is saved. Still pressing Jono has another shot saved and the next minute Tom finds himself having to tip the ball over as Bare break. Cockerham seem to have found a second wind now and have upped their pace playing the ball swiftly. Cockerham win a corner and Harvey comes up the pitch a bit and the ball deflects out to him on the edge of the area but his shot is blocked and Bare break back with Ben slowing the player so Tom's ready to save the shot. Cockerham get a free kick far out which is taken by Singy and Jonon gets a foot in but it goes wide. Tom Fearnley comes on for Harvey who' d put in a very solid performance. The game is really hotting up now and it's real end to end stuff with both teams attacking and defending well. Singy's putting in a solid performance and puts a ball in for Jono to chase ... What's this. The roving reporter looks about to run on for him! Archie comes back on to replace a tiring Tom E who has put in another good performance. Archie is straight into the acvtion and looking a lot more confident than in the first half. Singy , Archie , Sam and Jono are really going for it now to try and get a goal to pinch the 3 points but Bare are defending and countering well. Jono goes on another run and clashes with a Bare defender hurting his foot so is replaced by a rested Kyle. Singy gets a good run in on goal and the keeper fumbles but we just can't manage to scramble it in. Tom F and Ben are doing a good job in defence mopping everything up but Bare press and Tom has to make another spectacular save and the match finishes 0-0.

Another cracking match to watch from 2 evenly matched teams. There were good chances for both sides and a score draw would have been a fair result and given the crowd a little more to scram about. The quickness of the pitch probably went against us a little as a few chances were missed as the ball moved quickly away before it could be struck cleanly! All the boys played well today with three or four outstanding individual performances but as they played well as a unit it was decided to award the whole team as man of the match.  Hopefully we can continue to play this way and keep improving as we seem to be. Thanks to Emily for her notes and Richard for lining.

13th November 17:19

A dry sunny morning allbeit a bit breezy, an early kick off and a small but vocal crowd. Game on. Cockerham took the kick off and began more positvely than in recent matches by having a plan from the start and keeping to it as we'd worked on in training. Hawks came on the attack but Ben and George remained strong in the tackles making it difficult for the hawks striker to get in a good shot and sending the ball clear over the bar. Hawks presed again Tom taking the ball well in safe hands. Cockerham began to settle a bit more and started to defend and counter attack with a bit more confidence. Kyle playing in the central midfield role did a good job of supplying the ball forward to the wings of Danny and Tom E.  Singy up front was holding the ball up well.  Hawks responded and took the ball down the wing getting a shot in high. with the wind getting hold of the ball and blowing it of course to Tom's hands and unfortunately in the net.  1-0 to Hawks. Another good kick off idea from the lads and we gain some ground with the ball going for a Cockerham throw. Kyle takes to Tom E who sees a chance but the goalie saves and Cockerham win a corner.  A good positive response after the Hawks goal. Unfortunately the corner resulted in a goal kick and now it's time to defend.  George and Ben are working well to pressure and cover as worked on and the ball goes for a Cockerham goal kick. Ben took the goal kick to Kyle, who started a sequnece of passing between  Tom E, Singy and himself prioir toi playing an awesome ball to Danny to shoot.........saved. Looking good for Cockerham. Hawks press back and George has to cover and block well to deny them, with Tom E clearing the ball. Good play from both teams and as Cockerham press again we win a free kick. Kyle goes for goal but goes wide. Danny picks up the ball and gets into the box to shoot but again goes wide. Good defending again from George and Ben but Hawks win the clearance the striker nipping in behind the defence to go 1 on 1 with the keeper and scoring.  2-0 Hawks. Cockerham keep their heads up and battle on with Singy getting a run into the box and striking from close ramge to hit the bar. It's all Cockerham now and Singy gets another chance the keeper spilling it but reacting quickly to grab it back. Time for a change and Jono comes on up front Singy dropping into defence for George to try and keep the pressure high in the Hawks half. The first half comes to a close with Singy overlapping to push forward for another good run.

Tom E is replaced by Archie for the second half and the team are confident they can pull something back after finishing the first half very strongly an seeing a number of chances saved or just missing the target. Hawks have a different plan and pressure early, Tom having to make some early saves. Cockerham are having to defend now but are doing a good job of it. Jono picks up a clearance and shows some good skill to outwit one defender but is tackled by another. Danny blocks a stinger on his leg then blocks again reulting in him being winded and James comes on to replace him. The ball is sent back to the Hawks keeper as they had possesion when the play was stopped and they immediately have a run down the field  winning a free kick which Tom catches safely. Archie puts in a good run but the resulting shot goes wide. Hawks pass the ball well, getting in behind the defence and get another long high shot in, beating a leaping Tom to score. Cockerham are still showing good determination and try something new again on the restart but Hawks are on their toes and sprint in to regain possesion passing the ball well and with confidence. Jono's having non of it and tries to close the defenders down quickly as the balls passed backwards but some good communication from Hawks prompts a quick reaction and the ball is played back down the field again and the winger takes a shot again lobbing it high over Tom's head to score.  George comes back on to replace Singy and bolster up a flagging defence, which is begining to get run a ragged.  Archie, Kyle and Jono continue to work hard in attack with James covering in defence.  Hawks have still got a spring in their step and are getting to every 50/50 ball. Cockerham get a corner but George's shot goes wide and Hawks steam back down the pitch and lob another one in which Tom can't see and score again. Tom E comes back on for Ben who's getting tired after a busy time defending. Hawks are pressing again but Tom is gathering everything up and playing it down the field quickly to get the ball to Jono who's using all his skill to beat the midfield but is ending up being double teamed by the defenders to deny him any chances. Hawks have another shot and Tom leaps as high as he can to cover it but it goes over anyway. Cockerham are still fighting to get that ever elusive goal but unfortunately run out of time as the final whistle is blown.

Aother good performance from the lads against a good team that were well disciplined, passed the ball well and wre quick of thought. Had one or two of our early efforts hit the mark it could have been a completly different story  Regrettably, once again, one or two of our players seemed to loose a little bit of heart. It seems to me that we are managing to score better away from home and we may have to work on shooting from distance as we are creating the oppertunities without an end result. Thanks to Emily for her match notes and to Sam and Chris Marshall for lining and refereeing.

HALTON JUNIORS 0 COCKERHAM JUNIORS 1
Lune and District Junior Football League B Division
Goal Scorer: G Hewitt
Referee: Damian Brown
Man of the match:T Hanson

6th November 20:34

A nice sunny day all be it slightly chilly. High spirits all round and the supporters admiring the new facilities at the Halton ground (probably sampling the tea and coffee as well). The Halton manager came over and explained they start all home matches lining up on the half way line as per the respect guidelines for a handshake. Good idea. Maybe this should be adeopted by the league!  Halton won the toss and elected to kick off. The lads started brightly and won possesion quickly making an attack on goal, Jono getting a run into the box with a pass to Archie, who was making his return after a half term break. Good positive start. The boys carried on pressing requiring some strong defence from Halton, who cleared the ball to attack our goal. Both teams were working hard when Cockerham got a break following some good play from Archie releasing Danny for a shot which produced a save from the Halton keeper. Cockerham continued to apply the pressure and Thomas E is linking well with Danny, who's doing a cracking job contolling the midfield. Halton press back and George and Ben find themselves having to defend and Halton wina corner. Tom organises the defence and the corner is cleared but Halton win another corner. Tom reorganises his defence and the corner is cleared again. Cockerham win a throw in whichis taken by Ben to Archie who shows good ownership of the ball and attacks again. The forwards are working hard with some impressive overlapping play and nice one touch football  (it seems some of the coaching is working) but Halton are defending well winning the ball and pressing forward one player in particular creating a lot for them and they get a shot in on goal which Tom leaves to go wide. The manager shouts to the team to sort it out which seems to have an instant effect and we press back straight away. Cockerham win a corner and Danny goes to take it. George has come up the pitch and is standing outside the box. The ball comes in and pings about eventually coming to George who smashes it goalwards Jono jabbing his foot at it . GOAL!! 1-0 Cockerham. Manager asks who's scored and it's decided it's awarded to George. Halton look for a quick restart but the lads remain alert and cancel out the pressure winning a free kick which Ben takes just going wide of the target. Cockerham are really cooking on gas now with some good play from Thomas, Danny, Archie and Jono up front, giving each other plenty of chances but nothing quite on target. George and Ben are solid in defence with Tom clearing anything coming through. Tom picks up a loose ball and takes a quick kick launching the ball up the field finding Thomas E who shows some good skill to give Archie a chance. The lads are working hard now and look to be enjoying themselves. Thomas E comes off and Sam replaces him. Halton aren't going to roll over and get another break the resulting shot going wide and being left by Tom for a goal kick. Some more good play between Jono and Danny sees another shot from Danny being saved.  Sam is getting involved and puts in a good run with the ball but the whistle goes for half time.

The team talk sees the lads recognising where the problems are coming from within the Halton team and they all agree on what needs to be done. Harvey comes on for George who's put in another impressive shift with a goal to boot and the second half begins with Cockerham taking the kick off.  Halton attack immediately but are unable to pass the strong tackling of Sam who immediately wins the ball back and Cockerham again apply the prssure. Halton break again with Sam chasing back to clear but not quite fast enough and Tom makes an impressive diving save. The game is real end to end stuff now and Halton win another corner, Tom making another cracking save. Cockerham press back and Danny has another shot deflected.  Archie's looking a little tired after putting in another good performance and on comes James. Harvey has taken over where George left off in defence and is doing a sterling job of holding the Halton attackers up to allow the lads to get back and defend as Halton up the pressure.  Sam, Danny and James are having to drop back and defend with tension building on the terraces. Jono comes off and Thomas E comes back on to provide a bit of extra cover in midfield and James drops back into defence. Cockerham strike back hard and push the play back into the Halton half. Danny puts in an impressive run and passes to Tom E in the box his shot being cleared by the Halton defence. End to end stuff now but the defence are making it difficult for Halton to get any shots in with power and Tom is saving anything getting through to him. Ben comes off and George goes back on to finish the game. Things are getting a bit nervy now as both teams are showing great teamwork and determination. Danny gets another run into the box taking on the defence unfortunately he misses his chance to shot and runs into another defender being denied again. Halton break again and Tom pulls off the save of the match Genius. The referee blows the whistle for full time allowing our nerves to calm.

A very enjoyable match to watch albeit a little edgy at times but both teams showed good character and determination. Halton are a much improved side since we first played them last season and we wish them all the best in the cup when they play Warton Warriors. I'm sure their first win will not be long coming. The whole team played well again showing lots of teamwork and more communication and it is heartening to see that the players are beginning to understand where the problems are and  what needs to be done on the pitch. If they keep up with this improvement and continue to develop as they are as a team I'm sure we will soon be challenging some of the higher placed teams in the league. Tom was awarded man of the match for keeping a clean sheet and enabling us the win with some outstanding saves in the second half and his quick thinking in putting out the big kicks quickly. I think the goalie training sessions are helping him improve. Thanks again to Ben and Emily for lining and match notes.

WESTGATE WANDERERS 2 COCKERHAM1:
Lune and distict Junior Football League B Division
Goal Scorer : J Dunn 1
Referee: N Borans
Man of the Match: J Dunn
30th October 17:58

A nice sunny day , an extra hour in bed thanks to the clocks changing and fresh from a weeks break . Game on. The boys were warned in the pre match talk that it would be a physical game as with some mind games coming from the oppossion. Cockerham started wel,l attacking immediately Westgate had kicked off, with Sam Eastwood getting stuck right in. Westgate pushed back giving Tom cause to come out of his goal and make a great clearance. Cockerham won a free kick and Singy took it, the ball eventually going for a corner. Singy took the corner looking for Jono's head but he put it over the goal. Cockerham were settling down now with George, Sam, Singy and Harvey defending well. Sam is working hard on the wing and Danny is pushing hard and encouraging the team with Jono showing good confidence inside the box. Harvey and George are still working well in defence pressuring the ball and covering the players as we'd worked on in training. Westgate are trying hard and tried a shot from far out the ball taking a bad bounce in front of the keeper and goes clear over Toms head and hands, landing in the goal. 1-0 to Westgate.  Kyle came on into midfield with Sam dropping into defence and Harvey coming off to allow the boys to attack down the wing more. Immediately Sam and Kyle get down to business and push forward, Kyle playing Jono in for a chance that goes wide, resulting in a corner that the keeper collected comfortably. All the team are working hard together and encouraging each otherwell . Tom is covering any chances Westgate get with some more solid work from the defence. Danny is working the ball well in the midfield playing some cracking one two's with Jono and eventually Singy has a chance from outside the box . Thomas Ellison replaces George in defence to provide a bit more attacking play as we're really controlling the game now. Sam continues to combine with Kyle, who wins a free kick. Kyle takes the free kick and it's collected by the keeper. Kyle wins another free kick and the outcomes the same as before. Cockerham continue to press forward but the half time whistle is blown.

Thomas Fearnley replaces Sam at half time who's had a brilliant half and Cockerham take the kick off. Westgate win the ball and push into the box drawing a valiant clearance from TE giving Westgate a corner. The corner is cleared by Singy to Jono who runs it to the box but the resulting shot is off target. Danny and Kyle are working hard in the midfield and on the wings and eventually they set Jono up with another chance that goes just over. Westgate attack back and push into the Cockerham half TF pressuring the ball well to keep them from getting it into the box and also clearing well, resulting inanother chance for Dunny who can't seem to get it past the keeper. Real end to end stuff now and all the boys are working hard to defend and attack trying the long ball to put Dunny through on goal. Westgate are getting a bit frustrated now as Cockerham pass the ball well resulting in some rough and unsporting behaviour which is not at all appreciated by the travelling supporters. A free kick is awarded to Cockerham just inside their own half. Singy takes it, Danny deflects it, it drops to Jono who is one on one with the keeper.. Jono strikes for the top corner.........GOAL!!!!!!!! 1-1. The heat is on now and tension is high, both on and off the pitch. Harvey replaces Danny who's had a brilliant game, his first as captain but the effort has taken it's toll, particularly as he had been the target of some stern challenges, resulting in some heavy bruising.  TE moved onto the wing and Harvey into defence. Westgate are taking the initiative again even if it is by any means with the Westgate management having to substitute a player who's getting out of hand. Cockerham are tiring a little and the defence is left a little sparse after some good passing from Westgate and Tom is lobbed again. 2-1 Westgate. Cockerham wake up again with some good quick passing play between jono and TE . Everything is being thrown forward now and Kyle is all over the pitch suppling the attack and dropping back to defend and organise the defence.  Very high tempo now and there are some tired legs showing some great determination in an attempt to grab an equaliser.  Unfortunately the clock runs down and the final whistle denies the opporltunitiy to share of the points.

Again one of those days when we controlled the game for large periods but couldn't convert the chances we got and the opponants did. We certainly are playing well now and defending better, although we still have a little way to go the signs are encouraging. Again every player played really well and showed lots of determination ( I wonder if having a big squad is helping here with some of the lads) If we had enough trophies I would have given them all one for man of the match. However, it was strongly felt by the supporters that Jono should get it for an outstanding performance and never giving up. I know Jono was just happy to get back on the score sheet and we'll all hope he can continue with it! Thanks to Emily for her notes and Darren for lining.

NEXT MATCH:

HEYSHAM BLUE STAR COLTS 0 COCKERHAM 4:
Lune and District Junior Football League B Division
Goal Scorers : D Holmes 2 T Singleton 1 W Proctor 1
Referee : Tony Smith
Man of the Match : Daniel Holmes
16th October 16:11

After a weeks break last week the boys were looking forward to playing again and George as captain stepped up to the centre and decided to have the kick off on winning the toss. The boys started briskly and pushed forward from the off winning an early corner. Kyle would normally have taken this but he was having the day off so Danny stepped up to take it. Will got a look in but turned it wide for a goal kick. Colts pushed forward from the goal kick and got in behind the defence to have a shot needing a good save from Tom in goal. George, Ben and Will started to pass the ball well and Jono linked with Will and pushed forward again winning another corner. The ball was played in and Danny got in there to score an amazing goa.  1-0 Cockerham. On the restart Cockerham stayed alert communicating well. Danny spurred on by his goal was putting his all into it and was combining well with Jono and eventually Jono played a cracking pass into him to blast another one into the back of the net. 2-0 Cockerham. Archie was working hard putting some good runs in and Ben and George were solid in defence. Will was winning everything in midfield and Cockerham pressed forward again to win another corner. Danny eager for a hatrick intercepted the ball and got another shot in but it was cleared. Colts pressed back and nipped in behind the defence to get in a shot forcing Tom to make another cracking save. Harvey replaced George who put in a sound shift at the back. The whole team worked well to win the ball back as soon as they lose possesion and a determined Danny pushed forward playing the ball through for Jono to have a shot which was saved by the Colts goalie. Half time.

The mood was good at half time with coaches encouraging the lads to keep up the ghood work. Singy came on for Danny who was looking tired after a brilliant performance in the first half. Singy is looking on top form playing on the left side of the defence and soon presses forward to play Jono in. Colts started to get a bit more possesion and pushed back to keep Tom on his toes in goal. The play became very even as the pace picked up. Harvey was doing well and pushed forward when he could.  He found Singy who dribbled into the box and struck the ball hard against a colts defender as he made his challenge.  Colts had managed to regroup and become more organised  and start to apply more pressure drawing some great play from our defence and the goalie. Archie's still working hard on the right wing and is eying the goal and getting in some good shots.  Ben Roskell replaced Jono and goes to the right wing with Archie going up front. Singy looks to be enjoying himself down the left wing and is getting some good runs in and playing Archie in whose still got his eye on the target. George comes on to replace Ben P whose done a sterling job in defence keeping things well organised. Cockerham push forward again and win a free kick outside the box on the left wing. Singy steps up to take it and strikes the ball well looking for goal top corner. 3-0 Cockerham. The lads are enjoying themselves now and Ben R is doing a brilliant job on the winger winning the ball and pushing on. Danny comes back on replacing Archie and is keen to score that elusive third goal for his hatrick. Cockerham win another corner and the ball goes into the box. Will with his back to the goal tries an overhead kick. Epic ! 4-0 Cockerham. Jono comes on for a jubilant Will into the midfield. All players are playing well now especially Ben R and Harvey who haven't as much match experience as the others but are both looking like professionals. Colts aren't giving up and are still going for that goal and almost get one in but Tom's having non of it keen to keep a clean sheet. The final whistle blows and it's a win for Cockerham.

A good all round performance from all players with the boys showing good organisation.  Hopefully they will keep it up and produce some good football that's entertaining as well.  Man of the match went to Danny who put in an exceptional performance as did all the lads.

COCKERHAM 3 LANCASTER GIANTS 5:
Lune and district Junior Football League B Division Cup
Goal Scorers : Archie Cooper 1 Kyle Brown 1 Thomas Ellison 1

Referee : G Cooper
Man of the Match : Sam Eastwood
2nd October 12:07

After  a dissapointing performance last week we'd discussed where we needed to improve and the lads were keen to prove that they could bounce back.  Will Proctor was unavailable as he was doing a fun run as was James but Ben Pye was available as were Archie Thomas Ellison and Thomas Fearnley. Giants won the toss and took the kick off. Game on. Giants started well and had an early effort off target. Ben took a good goal kick and Cockerham pushed into the Giants hard with a good run from Archie resulting in a corner for Cockerham. Up steps Kyle to take the kick and launches into the goalmouth. Jono tries to head and the ball comesw back to Kyle who had a shot just off target. Positive start from the lads. Giants push forward and the striker took a shot from range and hit it high, Tom just getting a finger to it but unfortunately the ball landed in the goal. 1-0 Giants. A good centre kick from Cockerham with some good possesion but Giants pinch the ball drawing a good clearance from Ben resulting in a throw in to Giants. Ben defends well again and Giants win a corner. Tom organises the defence well and the ball is cleared giving Cockerham a chance to break. Kyle gets another shot in but the Giants keeper saves well. Back to the other end and Giants have another chance well saved by Tom who shouts encouragement to the team. Archie goes forward linking with Jono who plays it back for Archie to have a shot thats saved again, the ball coming back for Archie to head it in. 1-1. Giants restart and push forward having a chance miss but coming back for another chance and scoring. 2-1 Giants. Archie's putting a good shift in running his socks off to beef up the defence but Giants nip in again and get 1 on 1 with the keeper to score again. 3-1 Giants. The lads aren't going to give up this week and push forward again with some good football and press forward. Danny replaces Singy and gets straight to business trying to keep the Giants number 10 quiet. The Cockerham defence is undone again leaving a Giants player open to go 1 on 1 with the keeper again and score.  4-1 Giants. The lads take the initiative again and press forward with some good passing and movement and Kyle gets another shot saved. More good play from Ben and Cockerham find themselves with a free kick right in Kyle's territory. The balls played in. The goalie scrambles for it . Somethings happened........it's in! 4-2. Thomas Fearnley is replaced by Sam in defence. The lads were showing good belief and spirit now and Kyle gets up with another long shot the ball coming loose for Jono to have ago, but it runs away from him.  Good end to end stuff now and Danny gets a good run in and a shot. Giants press back and get a corner which Sam clears well. The linesman is making comments about the quality being shown on the pitch and the ref blows for half time.( he asks the score!)

Thomas Ellison replaces Archie at half time who'd put in a belting performance in the first half and Cockerham take the kick off. Danny shows some good skill and pushes on again. Sam's doing a brillaint job in defence and plays the ball forward to start another Cockerham attack with 3 attempts on goal. Fantastic. Back to the other end and Sam's clearing it well with Tom shouting support. The balls played forward again with some superb passing and Jono plays a great ball to put Thomas E in on goal 1 on 1 with the keeper .........and it's a goal.4-3 . Giants push straight back and get a shot in that Tom saves but can't keep a hold on the ball . He reacts quickly but so has the Giants striker and he manages to score 5-3. Singy comes back on for Kyle who's had a cracking game and is looking worn out. Sam's now getting to grips with his role in defence and is chasing everything and playing the ball forwrd well. Thomas E was having a good game and making some good runs and putting some good shots in. Jono was giving it his all battleing well to hold the ball and passing well . Singy and jono were combining well to produce some good football passing well and Jono got through on goal only to have his shot saved. Archie comes on for Jono who again has played well and is looking worn out. Singy makes a great run a plays a through ball to Archie clear on goal but unfortunately his shot soars over the crossbar and into the adjoiniong field. Still putting on the pressure Cockerham win another corner and Sam comes up. Danny plays the ball in and Singy strikes once, twice ..saved. Another corner to Cockerham and Giants manage to scramble the ball away. Cockerham were still outplaying the Giants and throwing everything at them Archie having another chance saved. Unfortunately try as they might the clock was ticking down and time had run out.

A brilliant performance from every player and to me this felt like a win in how the lads show massive strength of character to come back from a disappointing match the week before and show just how well they can play and how entertaining they can be. To me they all deserved to be man of the match but seeing as we only have one trophy it was awarded to Sam as he put in a brilliant performance playing in a different position and mastering it well. Thanks to Graham for refereeing, Darren and Richard for lining and of course our marvelous roving reporter Emily for her match notes.

Lune & District Junior Football League

Referee : S Dunn

Man of the match: Will Proctor

25th September 15:40

An early kick off with a pitch in good condition Bare won the toss and decided to kick off. An early attack saw a shot on target and Tom Hanson pulled of a craxcking save. Bare were looking confident and Cockerham were defending well with Will Proctor clearing the lines well allowing Kyle to go forward and win a free kick which he took but was off target. Another push forwaqrd for bare saw Danny Holmes getting back to defend and clear the ball. Cockerham looked like they were settling down now and a break forward saw Kyle have another shot aon goal that was saved resulting in a Cockerham corner that went for a goal kick. Good pressure from Cockerham. Thomas Singleton aqgain playing in defence was clearing the lines well and supply the ball to Danny on the right wing. Bare managed to pinch the ball back and some good passing saw a shot go in which Tom had little chance of stopping. 1-0 Bare. On the restart Cockerham were a little slow allowing Baqre thew chance to steal the ball againand get a long shot in but off target and Tom dealt with it well. Cockerham played the ball down the pitch putting in a few good passes until some diligent defending from Bare saw the win the ball back for a counter attack. The ball was knocked into the box and Danny handled the ball giving the ref little choice than to awarded a penalty. The penalty is taken and Tom pulls off a cracking save but can't keep the ball in his hand s and the Bare striker runs in on the loose ball just pipping Tom to it and manages to scramble it in. 2-0 Bare. The play swings from end to end and Tom keeps alert to save a one on one chance for Bare. Harvey comes off after having a bit of a struggle to contain the Bare winger and James comes on to have his first match of the season. Cockerham push forward again with some good passing between Will, Jono and Danny and Danny gets a shot oiff but is a bit off target. Bare push up again and try a long shot which unfortunately soars over Tom to land in goal 3-0 Bare. Cockerham push forward on the restart snd Danny gets a cross in thats cleared by the Bare defence. Still pushing Jono has a run into the box but is tackled. Still pressing for a goal Will gets a good run in and passes to Danny on the right who plays it back through for Will to finish in style. 3-1 and half time.

Sam Eastwood replaces Danny at half time and Cockerham take the kick off. Bare are again more alert and pinch the ball immediately to run through on goal and score.4-1. Sam's looking keen and iworks hard to defend and try to push up the field but Bare are again well organised and nip in to pick the ball up from a goal kick 5-1. Ben Roskell comes on for James who's taken a knock. Bare are noe pushing again as the Cockerham team 's heads had dropped but Tom keeps his chin up and pulls off some gereat saves. Bare see this and start shooting high from a distance and are awarded with a goal6-1. Sams still showing his enthusiasm and links with Jono who plays it back for Sam to shoot but goes wide. Cockerhams heads have come back up now and start to press again Singy having moved to midfield as Will has moved top defence. Jono makes a run with the ball and passes to Singy who has a chance to shot but collides with the Bare defender the ball going for a corner. Singy is replaced by Harvey as he's injured.Bare clear the corner and Cockerham down get back quick enough and Ben is left with a 2 on 1 and Bare score an easy goal. Will is doing his best now to keep the Bare attack at bay but the rest of the team are beginning to tire and Bare get another. Full time.

For the first half the lads again showed they can play some good football but we need to focus more on organisation and not be caught out when we lose possession of the ball. This is something we have been working on in traininmg sessions and hopefully we will start to get it right. We will also start to look at set plays a little more as we are losing possession to easily from this and also we will have to work on our support play and link up play. It is still early days in the league and I know the boys will pick themselves up from this and show the strength of character to put things right as we all know how capable they are and the potential that is there.

Thanks to Ben for looking after the team and emily for her match notes and Richard for lining and Liz for taking the kit again.

COCKERHAM 1 WARTON WARRIORS 3
Lune & District Junior Football League
Goal Scorer: Archie Cooper 1
Referee:Emily Hutton
an of the match: Archie Cooper

18th September 16:44

After a wet day on saturday a pitch inspection was made early in the morning to see if the standing water in the goal areas had drained away overnight. It had so it was game on. Cockerham won the toss and deciced to kick off. Warton nipped in and took the ball causing Will Proctor to make a clearance awarding Warton a corner which was cleared by Ben Pye. The ball came back in but was well saved by Thomas Ellison who was playing in goal as Tom Hanson was still in London after a gymnastics competition. Cockerham took the possesion and made some fast confident play with some crisp passing between Jonothan Dunn , Sam Eastwood and Will. giving himl an opportunity to shoot but being just off the mark. Warton began to apply the pressure now drawing another fantastic clearance from Ben who was playing his first match of the season. Warton again got the ball and managed to get a shot in that Thomas couldn't quite save 1-0 to Warton.

Warton again took possesion just after the restart and Thomas saved well to deny them and made a good long kick to put Sam in who again linked with Jono resulting in a corner for Cockerham.  Kyle Brown stepped up to take the corner and played a cracking ball in, with Wills header coming out off the post. Second missed chance. Cockerham began to apply the pressure and Sam was working really hard and Jono again working well with him. The play again swung in Wartons favour and a free kick was awarded to them outside the area. Cockerham organised the defence well but the strike went just under the bar above Thomas's reach and it was 2-0 Warton.

The game restarted again with presure from Warton and the ball was not cleared in the area gifting the Warton striker an easy shot on goal which Thomas again was unable to save. 3-0 Warton. Sam was replaced by Archie Cooper who had also had a gymnastics competion the previous day but was looking forward to playing and got stuck in straight away. Warton were awarded another free kick that was on target but was cleared by Kyle then Archie. George Hewitt who was a late addition to the team 'megged' a Warton player and played Will in who had another shot that hit the crossbar. Cockerham were now turning the heat up on Warton with some excellent play frustrating the Warton defence and a free kick was awarded. Up steps Kyle to do what he does best. A brilliant kick that hit the bar and then the fingertips of the goalie and somehow stayed out. The ball then drop to George who'd began to press higher up the field and he got a shot in but was unlucky to just miss the target. George and Jono began to link up with George showing some good skill but the ball got intercepted and sent up the pitch nedding another solid clearance from Ben. The first half came to an end with Cockerham still applying the pressure.

Thomas Singleton replaced George at half time as he was looking a little tired after an energetic first half performance. Cockerham again applied the pressure and the home fans were desperate for them to score a goal.  Ben was playing well in defence keeping the Warton attack quiet and Kyle was doing a good job in tracking back to help defend putting in some good tackles to deny Warton. Thomas Fearnley replaced Ben for his first appearance in the league this season. Jono and Kyle pressed forward with Jono losing his marker to play a one two with Kyle whose on target shot was saved by the Warton keeper. Thomas F was doing a good job indefence putting in some good tackles and keeping the Warton striker under close survielance. Kyle had now upped his tempo a bit and started getting down the wing more putting in a cracking cross to Jono who got a head on it but not quite enough to turn it into the goal. Another near miss. Thomas S playing a sweeper role was defending well and pushing forward with the ball when he got the chance even trying a shot from distance but fraying the nerves of the crowd who thought it was in. Thomas E was doing a great job in goal making some great saves and distributing the ball well allowing Cockerham to push up the pitch.

Cockerham increased the pressure with Archie working hard down the right and they won another corner. Kyle played another superb ball in to jono who headed it but the keeper saved. Jono then got on a run but got caught on the leg in the tackle requiring the magic sponge to be brought out. The pain was too much and Sam came back on to replace him. Will was now starting to have a shot or two from distance but it just wasn' t going Cockerhams way. Singy still defending well picked up the ball in his own half a made a strong run straight down the middle passing not one, not two but three players and shoots for goal.......missed, to the further frustration of the Cockerham fans.

Warton wion a free kick drawing another good save from Thomas E. The time was running out now as full time was approaching and the crowd were being amused by the home manager getting frustrated running around the touchline retriving the ball for throw ins, not to  waste time. Singy came up to take a throw in well into the Warton half and Sam moved into the box to receive the anticipated long throw. Singy however took a short one to Will in the corner, who played in a cross in, which Archie rans onto to pop it in the back of the net.  Full Time score 3-1 to Warton.

A good performance all round but it was not to be our day and the scoreline was not a reflection of the match. Not to take anything away from Warton who also played well and are much improved from our first meeting last season. Hopefully next weeks match will go a little more our way a we can convert more of the chances into goals.

Thanks again to Emily for her match notes and to Andy for running the line and Emily Hutton for refereeing.

11th September 18:34

A mild but breezy morning for the first match of the season being played away at the Lancaster City Ground. The team were sporting the new kit kindly sponsored by Clare and Howard opticians. Lancaster kicked off and Cockerham decided to play the first half uphill. Lancaster started strongly pressurising the Cockerham goal in the first minute with George Hewitt making a cracking clearance in the first minute. City continued to press and won a corner which was bloced again by George resulting in a goal kick for Cockerham. Cockerham were doing a good job of defending as City continued to push forward. The boys were asked to pressure the ball as well as cover the players as we'd talked about and responded well. Cockerham had a goal kick which was well received by Archie Cooper who passed on to Jonothan Dunn. A good run from Jonothan testing his pace against the defence and giving himself an oppertunity but being unlucky with his shot. The ball fell to Thomas Singleton who had a strike on target that was deflected for a corner which unfortunately came to nothing.  City pressed again and got a shot off on target which was saved comfortably by Tom Hanson in goal.  George and Harvey Gornall were working well in defence keeping the City attack at bay and George produced a good clearance giving Singy a chance to shoot but not quite on target.

Some good teamwork by Jonothan and Singy was being appreciated by the crowd and Kyle Brown got in on the act with a fantastic shot just off target. Archie was replaced by Danny Holmes who made an immediate impact with a good run and a square ball through to Johnny who slotted it into goal to make it 1-0 to Cockerham. On the restart Danny again got stuck in and produced another good cross but it unfortunately came to nothing. Harvey and George were still working hard in defence coming under a bit more pressure from the City attack. City then got awarded a free kick and Tom shouted out instuctions to his defence. The ball came in and Tom although being put under pressure by an attaker on the goal line made 3 cracking saves in a row showing brilliant compose and determination. Danny again got on the ball and managed to dribble past four players in a row but couldn't get his pass in to Jonothan and the reulting counter attack was cleared by George and the half time whistle blew.

Thomas Ellison came on for Harvey who'd had a brilliant league debut showing lots of enthusiasm and determination and Cockerham kicked off the second half. City started strongly but Johnny nipped in to get a shot off that was saved by the keeper. City countered and sent the ball up the left wing. Cockerham got caught napping as the ball appeared to go out of play but the linesmans flag stayed down and the City striker got a shot in that deflected off the post and landed in the goal 1-1. Thomas Ellison playing in defence for a change was putting in some cracking tackles and showing great composure in dealing with all attacks. Danny continued where he'd left off in the first half making a good run and passing through to Kyle who got off a long shot on target but the City keeper was alert and made a good save  .Singy still working hard controlling play in the midfield got a cross into  Kyle who crossed inside to Johnny who kept his cool and again slotted home to make it 2-1 Cockerham.

On the restart City pressed again and Tom was forced into making another cracking save. Kyle broke away down the left wing and got clipped on the foot which saw the end of his game and Sam Eastwood came on for his debut in the league. Sam immediately got down to business and made a great run down the left wing, looked up to see Johnny waiting and put in a great pass but Johnny was tumbled over in the resulting fight for the ball. This was to be Jonothans last contribution and Archie came back on.

City were not going to give up and beat the defence leaving Tom in a 1 on 1. In comes the first shot . Saved. In comes the second shot. Saveed Epic. Archie having got a second chance upped his game and got in with a chance needing anot6her good save from the City keeper. Some good football continued from all players (city included) and the game came to an end at 2-1 to Cockerham.

Again the boys have provided an entertaining match against evenly matched opposition and been determined enough to come out on top. Both Sam and Harvey put in top performances and hopefully their enthusiasm will spread right through the squad. Every player put in a good days work and they deserved the result they got. Man of the match was awarded to Tom Hanson for aqnother outstanding performance in goal. Well done Tom.

Team: T Hanson, G Hewitt, H Gornall, T Singleton, K Brown, A Cooper, J Dunn, D Holmes, T Ellison, S Eastwood.

Thanks to Ben for running the line and  big thanks to Emily for her match notes and contribution to the match report.
