Dave Belshaw and Kenny Braithwaite bring their Fulwood side up the A6 to face a Garstang team currently enjoying a rich vein of form. Fulwood have had a kind of stop-start season this time, having never really found any consistency in the league at all this season. I am sure, though, that this is no reflection on the management duo who both work as hard as any other management duo in amateur football.
I think that tommorrow's Fulwood side will probably show a few changes from the previous meeting this season, although I'm also sure that the side will be well organised and will come to Garstang tommorrow to "have a go". Lee Ward should be in the Fulwood goal tommorrow and he always proves a tough task to beat. Fulwood will be cheered on throughout the game by two of amateur football's nicest guys in their Chairman, Mick Waller, and ever popular Secretary, Tony Wilson.
Manager Somerside should be in a bouyant mood tommorrow, having picked up six points this week. However, I am sure he will also have prepared for the game with his usual millitary precision.
Andy Ireland pulled up lame in the warm up on Wednesday night and will sit this one out. Adrian Hunt worked hard on Wednesday night and he will be looking to start tomorrow. I also hear on the grapevine that a new signing may be joining us tomorrow as, with Ireland, Cox and Williams definitely ruled out, and late fitness tests on Baldwin and Kippax, the squad may welcome a new addition.

Garstang's unbeaten four game run came to an abrupt end against a very efficient and organised Fulwood side. However, it was the home team who almost took the lead on 6 minutes when a "Rory Delap" like throw from Cropper found Horton and his overhead kick dropped to Cummins whose strike just cleared the bar. Fulwood had their own long throw specialist in Slater, who caused consternation in the home camp, pitching the ball into the Garstang box twice in the first 15 minutes.
Garstang were holding their own at this stage. Johnstone saved well from Wilson following a free kick by Cropper and then Fulwood striker Roddy brought a good save out of Brindle. It was end to end as Hunt made room for himself, forcing Johnstone into action. Newsham and Roddy were proving a handful for the visitors and it wasn't long before Roddy had served another warning as he was allowed another chance that screamed over the bar. It was that man again, Roddy, who put Fulwood in front on 38 minutes, reacting quicker than the home defenders and heading home as the ball bobbled in the box.
Whilst Garstang's approach play may not have been fluent, they were still creating chances, allbeit from set pieces. Two corners by Butler before the break found the head of Wilson, the first saved by Johnstone and the second going over the bar.
Bamba replaced Butler, who had picked up an injury in the first half. Garstang pushed for an equaliser, a clever free kick by Cropper down the flank finding Bamba, whoss cross was hacked away to safety. Wilson then took a booking for a over zealous challenge. Fulwood always did seem capable of picking the home team off with their quick counter attacks. On one such attack, Philips had a chance to make it two but he shot wide. Garstang wouldn't lie down. A good run and cross by Fawcett on the right came to nothing, with Hunt failing to get the final touch.
The game was all over for Garstang in the 65th minute as the visitors broke quickly, Birke making a lot of ground with the ball before applying the final touch. Richard Wilson replaced Kilifin and new signing Neil Williams replaced Adrian Hunt. Cropper, who was later named Garstang Sponsor's Man of the Match, provided Horton with a golden opportunity to pull one back in the last five minutes, but he headed wide. With only a couple of minutes left Fulwood wrapped the game up, Roddy heading home a Birke corner.
