Charter Standard:

Garstang Football Club have have today been awarded FA Charter Standard Adult Club status.
Some words from our Chairman.....

Can I thank everyone at the football club who has been involved in helping us gain accreditation as an FA Charter Standard Adult Club, especially Marc Armstrong as, without his drive, committment and dedication, we would not have achieved this award.

This is another significant step in the development of Garstang FC so can I also take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the Club for helping to take things forward. With everyone's committment and drive, we will be successful, both on and off the field, this year and for many more to follow.

I, like others, feel that this is a very exciting time for us all, with many interesting and challenging projects ahead, for which we will need everyone's continued support. As you are reading this, you are already connected with, or interested in, Garstang FC and I would be very pleased to receive your constructive comments and feedback, both positive and negative, on what we are trying to do. You can email me here.

I do appreciate that, currently, there are rumours circulating regarding our plans for the Club and I hope to be in a position to share them with you all at some point in the next week or so. Once again, thanks to Marc and his helpers for getting our FA Charter Standard accreditation.

Adrian Wilding

Charter Standard Update:

As Garstang Football Club looks to move forward off the pitch, we have committed to achieving the FA Chartered Standard status. This is an award, given by football's governing body, that recognises when clubs are being run to the required standard and, basically, it means formalising our exisiting activities.

The club has now approved and adopted a consitution which can be read here. The club is committed to upholding and promoting the FA respect campaign, and you can read the document relevant to you here - club officials and managers, players or spectators. We have also endorsed and adopted the FA equality policy, which can be read here.

Another part of acheiving the Standard is that both teams need qualified First Aiders present at every game. With reference to the First Team, the club has sent Steve Baker on the FA course, which he passed, and Marc Armstrong has the qualification through his work. For the Reserves the club have booked Paul Bailey and Ian Wormleighton on the FA run course on December 12th and, once these courses are completed, we can submit our application for assessment.

Whilst we are waiting to complete these steps, the management committee have all signed the document agreeing to uphold the Charter Standard principles, and we would now encourage all spectators and players to do the same by becoming 'members' of Garstang FC. The membership obligations are shown in the club constitution document here. You can download a membership form here. Please print out a copy, complete it and return it to Marc Armstrong - or any club official.

A lot of work has gone in to formalising our exisiting practices and getting the club ready to submit the application. I would ask everyone to support the FA Respect campaign and help the club to move forward. We pride ourselves on being a friendly community based club and, if we achieved the status, it would be some reward. We are initially applying for the Adult Chartered Standard. However, as we develop and introduce our youth team, then we will look to gain the appropriate Chartered Standard Status. Finally, by obtaining the Standard we will be better placed to apply for grants, and have a better chance of getting them!

Marc Armstrong

Documentation:

The corner stones of the Charter Standard are the 'Codes of Conduct' which apply to all members of the club whether players, management, officials or supporters.

Here they are:-

Club | Players | Spectators | Officials / Managers | Equality

The FA Charter Standard:

As Garstang FC strives to improve, both on and off the field, the club is seeking to gain the FA Adult Chartered Club Standard. This means that the club needs to formalise some of the excellent work that is currently taking place.

One key component of the Chartered Club Standard is that the club needs a formal Constitution and Rules. These rules will bind all members of the club and a draft verison has now been compiled. All committee members, players and coaching staff will become members of the club, as can any spectator, therefore please read the draft version of the document here.

If you have any comments, the club would welcome them. Please email them here.

The matter will be placed before the AGM which takes place at 6pm on Sunday August 16th at the Golf Club. The formal notice of the AGM is here.
